36 Month Prescribed Trauma
Acrylic on rubber, wood, and foam on foam board. 12” x 144" x 48" in.
During the pandemic, I became heavily reliant on medication to maintain my mental stability. This personal experience made me more aware of the growing crisis of addiction to both prescription and over-the-counter drugs. This work reflects my three-year struggle with the VA to find the right treatment after being medically discharged with PTSD and depression. It also critiques the system’s reliance on faith-based prescription solutions for veterans, even as national media continues to spotlight the devastating impact of the opioid epidemic across the country.
