Why The Chi Guy Cries

Acrylic on various materials within the installation. 120" x 120" x 180" inches.

The installation weaves together the artist’s personal perspective with broader world events, including the rise of therapy culture, opioid addiction, religion, politics, investment, war, personal confessions, and systems of confinement. At its core, it portrays a U.S. veteran engaged in deep reflection—grappling with questions of identity, a turbulent past, the ongoing challenge of becoming a visual artist, and a lasting connection to their roots in Chicago.
